After returning to town and seeing Riven reunited with his uncle the adventurers are resting together at The Antler and Thistle when Alys comes in looking for them, she quickly meets with Daeniroth and relays the message that Troyas would like to speak to them as soon as possible. She then leaves and he rounds up the others.
They meet with Troyas and he explains “War approaches. A week ago, a call to arms sounded throughout the Elsir Valley, summoning warriors to help defend Overlook in the Stonehome Mountains far to the west. Word of an army of orcs on the march had spread through the Vale for months, but now, it appeared the rumors were true. Overlook has always been able to repel attacks from the orc territories to the northwest but as feared this is a force much too large for them to repel by themselves.” Upon hearing these words the group prepares themselves for what they all know will come next. “We can’t send much of our guard to aid Overlook, and after your exemplary handling of Sinruth’s bandits the council has decided to ask you to go as our representatives. “Of course you will be compensated for your efforts,” he quickly places a bag on his desk, “We can offer 200 gold pieces for your services.” The group looks towards Gor who looks pleased to be paid to help his dwarven brethren, and then agree to Troyas’ proposal.
As they begin to leave “One more thing, this longsword you brought back to us was not stolen from the Hall of Great Valor. As you found it we feel it is appropriate for you to have it.” He places the sword on his desk, Quevven recognizes the magical presence of the blade, Yuriel quickly moves to examine it more closely and recognizes the engravings as those associated with Bahamut the Platinum Dragon and god of justice. Sensing the precision, and importance of the carvings he quickly tells the group “I’d like to have this”, the group agrees he may.
They then make preparations and restock for their week long journey to Overlook, as they speak with the citizens and storeowners the feeling is that this could be the start of a real war one the like of which hasn’t been seen in a long time. Their last stop to Alchemy by Adronsius is fortuitous as he is doubly excited seeing his rescuers again and the heroes brave enough to help his dwarven brethren face this ominous menace. He discounts his prices to help with the cause, their equipment needs finished they begin to head out towards the Stonehome Mountains.
