As they come up to the large double doors of Dr. Svorg’s mansion Lain knocks on the door while the others stay back a bit hoping to put the doctor at ease. An elven girl opens the door and after hearing their request she lets them in and goes to speak with the doctor. A few minutes later she returns and informs them that the doctor will take a few minutes to talk with them but first would like to extend some hospitality and will have his servants prepare them a meal, she then leads them into the dining room to wait. The time passed quickly and the girl and a elven boy bring in a full course meal and lay it before the adventurers. The pair encourages the group to try all the food, Lain and Kitar immediately dig in, Lain particularly getting plates full of food telling the servants to “keep it coming.” Braga declines and when pushed has to be a bit forceful in his refusal, Relik looks on with little interest in their dining.
After a short time the doctor appears looking a bit upset and harried, he quickly asks for the group to produce the materials for his appraising, Kitar produces the morningstar and the doctor picks it up and examines the symbol. “Hmm, he mumbles this appears to be a shadar-kai symbol I haven’t seen anything like this in a long time.” Relik immediately recognizes that Svorg might not be telling the whole truth. The doctor mentions that a gray skinned woman came by a few months ago asking for information and peddling some wares, he thinks he might still have a few items she left and goes to retrieve them. Relik shares his insight about Svorg with the group.
Just as soon as he can get the words out though the kitchen doors three iron dogs appears fangs barred, “Homunculi!” shouts Lain and they grab their weapons. The groups quickly engage with the dogs biting at the groups heels, the only problem being a few seconds into the fight Lain and Kitar both almost double in over in pain they realize the food had been laced with some kind of poison. It saps their strength but they manage to recover and the group quickly overwhelm the constructs using their superior numbers and tactics to overwhelm the dogs with their attacks. Braga was particularly vicious cutting through one dog almost single handedly unleashing three slashing attacks in quick succession. As they stood over the demolished mechanical monsters catching their breaths he simply said “I don’t like dogs.”
