Therandil puts his ear to each door and hears nothing but silence they decide to go through the door on the right. It leads into a unlit ten foot wide corridor, they begin moving cautiously forward with Auberry and Phi in front eyes open to any danger. They corridor leads to straight ahead roughly forty feet before sharply turning left, continuing onward they come across two doors on the west side. Auberry cautiously opens the first door and they enter into what looks like a study or laboratory of some sort the hairs on Far’el’s neck stand up as he enters and he informs the others the room reeks of necrotic magic.
They spread out and search the room looking for anything left behind, to help explain what is happening. After about ten minutes they spread out their findings on the large wooden table. Collectively they found, a page torn out of a book Therandil immediately recognizes the script as goblin and gives a hasty translation. Although most of what he translated doesn’t make sense the text at the top translates as “Ritual on Raising Dead” so they concluded this must be the missing page of Draal Keegan.
Hidden away in the bookshelf Phi found a handwritten notebook inside he found several journal entries the ones in the beginning describe his work as the commander of his regiment but towards the back it begins to describe his research into the arcane a few entries speak the loudest:
I’ve finally found a way to rid these foul creatures from the face of our world they are led by a shaman named Vinish. Once I cut her cold heart from her chest the true heirs of this land will be able to take over. I’ve live amid these feys and the only thing I see them useful for is servitude to the whispered one.
Now with the dammed Vinish out of the way the area can be consecrated properly, once this is accomplished and we have secured her amulet our plans will be unstoppable.
I can’t believe that the wench is holding the artifact if she only knew the power it holds I must get my hands on it.
On the table itself among several pieces of parchment they find one that has many handwritten scribbles and short notes, it mentions a betrayer, the whispered one, the lord of the rotted tower, whoever it is a foe to the Raven Queen and Orcus. Unfortunately higher powers are not most of this party’s area of interest. So they rely on Far’el to make sense of the writing, he spends some time thinking and doing a bit of research among the books on the bookcase and comes to the conclusion that the referenced god must be Vecna.
They decide to head back up to the barn barricade it and rest for the night, and continue exploring the caverns the next morning.
